Race driver coaching

Race driver coaching for drivers who want to win, not just lap.

Qualifying pace, racecraft, consistency over a stint. A professional driver coach reviews your onboard and data corner by corner and tells you, in order, what's costing you the result.

01 · What you get

Narrated, measured, written down. Back in 48 hours.

Narrated lap and data review

A recorded voice-over of your full onboard, plus your data overlaid against a reference lap where data is sent, then a written debrief with the key areas for focus and improvement.

Qualifying pace

Where the lap is, which corners carry the time, and the line and brake-release changes that find it.

Racecraft

Defending without losing the car, overtaking without waiting, start timing, managing pressure. Reviewed from the onboard, with the mirror-watching pointed out.

Consistency

The variance in your laps is where endurance results live. The review shows which corners drift and why.

Three reviews timed to the weekend: best test lap before qualifying, qualifying lap before the race, full race review after. Objectives, session by session, corner by corner, drill. Here's a real one. Book a weekend →

02 · Why it works

Coached by a racing driver coach who still races.

Most race coaching is done from memory in the paddock, ten minutes before the next session. This is done from your video and data, with time to look properly, and written down. Club racers, Spec Miata, Cup cars, GT4, prototypes, karting: the techniques differ, the learning process is the same and so is the review.

These programs are designed for entry level to Pro-Am. Pro level coaching is upon request and taken on a case by case basis.

Who's coaching

Alex Waters raced from British karting through Formula Ford, F3 and GP2 tests to LMP1 development driving, with a nod from the Red Bull F1 driver program. He then spent sixteen years as a McLaren driver coach, ran the driver program at The Concours Club in Miami and the member driving experience at Singer Drivers Club, and has coached IndyCar, F1 and celebrity drivers privately. He has worked at over forty circuits worldwide.

Karting driver development

For young drivers, the review gives a pro's eye on the onboard with feedback in plain language that driver and parent can both act on. Habits built in karts last a career; so do the bad ones.

Beyond the review

In-person race weekend coaching, sim preparation before an event and season programs are available by enquiry. For drivers going from good to great, there is a Pro-Am and Pro peak-performance program; ask about it.

03 · Questions

What should I send for race coaching?

One race or qualifying lap of onboard video, plus data if you have it (VBOX, MoTeC, sim telemetry). For a full weekend debrief, send the sessions you want covered and your own notes.

Do you coach karting?

Yes. Karting driver development is a core part of the work, with feedback written for the driver and the parent.

Can you work with my team and engineer?

Yes. Season clients get the review written so it can go straight to the engineer, and calls with the team can be arranged.

What does a full race weekend debrief include?

$749 at the founding rate ($997 list) per weekend: your best test lap reviewed before qualifying, your qualifying lap reviewed before the race, and a full race review after the race, each with corner-by-corner notes and priorities. Book at least a week ahead.

Do you do in-person race coaching?

Yes, by enquiry: race weekends, test days and sim preparation. Mention it in the request form.

How is this different from a data engineer's report?

A data engineer tells you where the time is. A driver coach tells you what to do with your hands and feet to find it, and what's going on in your head when you don't.

04 · Start

Find the tenths. Then keep them.

One lap, or a whole weekend. Reviewed corner by corner by a pro driver coach, within 48 hours, from $199.
